Motorcycle Tours
The Himalayas Lie Ahead
Freedom at your fingertips.
A Two-Wheeled Adventure
This is not a conventional sightseeing tour. It is not a race. And it is certainly not about getting from one stop to the next as quickly as possible.
It’s an adventure on two wheels.
Feel the warmth of the engine. Hear the sound of your motorcycle as it climbs through the mountains.
Watch the landscape change around you, feel the wind on your face and experience the freedom of having the road itself become part of your journey.
We don’t simply ride through the mountains.
We conquer them on two wheels.
Our motorcycle tours in India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka — especially in the Himalayan regions — are for riders who want to discover these extraordinary places from the saddle, travelling along spectacular mountain roads, through remote valleys, high mountain passes, traditional villages and landscapes you could never experience in quite the same way from behind a coach window.
No Race Against the Clock | Just the Joy of the Ride
For us, a great motorcycle journey is not measured by how quickly you reach the next stop.
It is found in the road. The climb. The scenery. An unexpected village. A conversation with a local resident. A tea break beside a mountain road.
It is that moment when you switch off the engine and suddenly realise that there is nothing around you but mountains.
There will be challenging roads. Long days in the saddle. Dust, wind, altitude and sometimes changeable weather.
And then there will be moments when you simply stop, look around and think:
“This is exactly why I came.”
Royal Enfield and the Spirit of the Himalayas
If you ask us which motorcycle we love for Himalayan adventures, we won’t hide our preference.
Royal Enfield.
There is something special about riding through the Himalayas on a Royal Enfield, I always say, “A motorcycle moves your body, but a Royal Enfield moves your soul”.
The sound of the engine. The character of the machine. The connection between rider, motorcycle and mountain road. Every rider has their own preferences and needs, though, so the motorcycle can be chosen to suit the route, availability, your experience and expectations. Whether you are an experienced rider or planning your first real motorcycle expedition, we can help you choose a motorcycle and route suited to your adventure.
Motorcycle Expeditions in Ladakh
Few places in the world can match the experience of a motorcycle tour in Ladakh.
High mountain passes. Remote valleys. Ancient monasteries. Himalayan villages. Glacial landscapes. Long, near-empty roads. And the feeling of being surrounded by mountains.
Our Ladakh motorcycle tours and expeditions can be planned around the route, the season, your riding experience and the time you have available.
Depending on the route and current road conditions, you may cross some of the world’s highest motorable passes, travel through remote Himalayan landscapes and spend nights in places where staying connected to the modern world begins to feel unimportant.
Sometimes, the best connection is simply the one between you, your motorcycle and the mountains.
Motorcycle Expeditions in the Spiti Valley
The Spiti Valley offers another way to experience adventure in the Himalayas by motorcycle.
Remote mountain roads. Spectacular valleys. Ancient Buddhist monasteries. Small Himalayan villages. High-altitude landscapes. And roads where every bend seems to reveal a new world.
Our motorcycle tours in the Spiti Valley take you through some of the most impressive landscapes in Himachal Pradesh, combining challenging roads with villages, monasteries, local encounters and the extraordinary scenery of the Trans-Himalaya.
Depending on the season and route, a motorcycle expedition in the Spiti Valley can follow different Himalayan journeys to create an adventure where the road is as memorable as the destination.
Ladakh calls you to the high Himalayas. Spiti gives you another reason to stay.
Safety Is Part of the Adventure
We love adventure. But we don’t believe in taking unnecessary risks.
That’s why safety, professional support and emergency preparedness are an integral part of our motorcycle expeditions.
When you travel with Guide Explorateur, we don’t simply hand you a motorcycle and point you towards the road.
Our support team travels with you.
For larger groups, we can arrange two 4x4 support vehicles. One travels ahead of the riders while the other follows behind, with their positions adapted to the terrain, road and safety conditions.
This arrangement provides logistical support and additional assistance on both sides of the main group.
Your Support Team
Behind every successful expedition is a team most travellers never see.
Depending on the group size and the nature of the expedition, our support team may include six or seven experienced members.
The Marshal — Your Motorcycle Guide
Our marshal, or motorcycle guide, leads the group on the road.
They know the route, understand the riding conditions and look after the pace and organisation of the expedition.
They are not simply there to show you the way. They ride with you.
The Mechanic
A motorcycle expedition can take you a long way from the nearest garage.
That’s why an experienced mechanic travels with our support team, equipped with essential tools and suitable spare parts.
The aim is simple:
If a motorcycle has a problem, we want to be ready to help as quickly as circumstances allow.
Medical Preparation and Emergencies
Our support team travels with a medical kit, and expedition planning takes account of medical facilities and emergency services available along the route.
Before departure, we review the route, altitude and weather, road conditions and access to emergency assistance.
In remote Himalayan regions, preparation is essential.
We can’t predict every situation. But we can prepare for them seriously.
Two 4x4 Vehicles for Larger Groups
When the group size and nature of the expedition call for additional support, we can arrange two 4x4 vehicles.
One travels ahead of the riders. The other follows the group.
They can carry luggage, equipment and essential supplies, while providing logistical support and additional assistance throughout the journey.
This arrangement is especially useful in remote Himalayan regions, where outside help may be many kilometres away.
Before You Set Off
Before departure, we check with each participant their riding experience, the documents required for the destination, protective equipment and the insurance conditions that apply to the motorcycle tour.
For high-altitude routes or journeys through remote regions, we recommend appropriate insurance covering the planned activities and, where relevant, emergency evacuation.
Requirements may vary depending on the country, route and motorcycle. We’ll explain them before the trip is confirmed.
Professional | Equipped | Prepared.
We don’t want you spending your trip wondering what would happen if something went wrong.
Our job is to think about that before you even start the engine.
Route planning Support vehicles Mechanical assistance Spare parts Medical kit We want you to focus on what you came here to do: ride.
Information about emergency services Experienced motorcycle guides Knowledge of the terrain A team familiar with the roads and local conditions
Much More Than a Motorcycle Journey
A motorcycle expedition is about more than the machine.
It takes you to places and lets you experience encounters in a different way when you arrive on two wheels.
Stop in a remote village Share a cup of tea with local people Discover mountain monasteries Learn more about local traditions Taste regional cuisine
Meet people who live in some of the world’s most challenging environments Camp amid remote landscapes Wake up surrounded by mountains Simply switch off the engine and listen to the silence
The motorcycle takes you there. The experience stays with you.
Beyond Ladakh and Spiti
Although motorcycle tours in Ladakh and the Spiti Valley are among our Himalayan specialities, our motorcycle adventures can take you much further.
Depending on the season, route and local conditions, we can create motorcycle journeys through:
Ladakh The Spiti Valley Himachal Pradesh Uttarakhand Rajasthan
Sikkim and North-East India Nepal Bhutan Sri Lanka Other suitable regions of India and the Himalayas
Routes can be planned for different levels of riding experience, from demanding Himalayan expeditions to journeys combining the joy of riding with culture, nature and local encounters.
Sri Lanka on Two Wheels
A motorcycle tour in Sri Lanka offers a very different experience from the Himalayas, with coastal roads, tea plantations, central highlands, villages, cultural sites and tropical landscapes.
Our 13-Day Motorcycle Expedition in Ladakh — A Glimpse of What We Do
We don’t just organise motorcycle expeditions. We ride them ourselves.
Our 13-day motorcycle expedition in Ladakh is one example of the adventures we create for our riders — and we documented the journey.
The film takes you behind the scenes of a real Guide Explorateur expedition: the roads, mountains, challenges, support team, unexpected moments and everything that happens between each stop.
You’ll experience the journey from the riders’ perspective, see our support operation in action and discover what it really means to cross Ladakh on two wheels.
Watch Our Ladakh Expedition
The documentary of our 13-day motorcycle expedition in Ladakh will soon be available on the Guide Explorateur YouTube channel.
You’ll be able to watch this adventure and our other travel and expedition films.

See what happens when we put our motorcycles, our team and all our preparation to the test in the Himalayas.
And remember:
This is just one journey. There are still so many roads to ride.
For Riders Who Want More Than a Holiday
Our motorcycle tours are for people who don’t just want to arrive somewhere. They want to ride there.
They want to feel the road. They want to experience the mountains. They want to wake up somewhere remote, knowing that the day before they crossed a mountain pass on two wheels.
They want stories. Challenges. Freedom.
And they want to know that a professional team is ready to support them throughout their adventure.
Vroom… Vroom… Start the engine. Leave the ordinary behind.
Tell us about your riding experience, the motorcycle you prefer and the journey you dream of taking.
We’ll take care of the route, logistics and support. You can focus on the road.
